TESTIMONIALS

The benefits of being involved in Skool of Street are hard for me to verbalise. I honestly feel like it has transformed my life and I don't quite know where I would be without it. It's been a lifeline for me and I hope that one day every child has the opportunity to benefit. Blackpool would be a very different place trust me.

On behalf of Revoe Learning Academy, I am delighted to present this testimonial for the Skool of Street’s Arts programme.

With an absolute focus on enriching our children’s lives and cultural capital, we commissioned Skool of Street to provide curricular, extra curricular and aspirational Dance programs.

Over the last 2 years, the impact has been powerful and significant in terms of raising aspirations, self confidence and employment qualities such as resilience, commitment and dedication.

Through School, in excess of 400 children and young people have benefitted from the expert tuition and rich performance opportunities which the Skool of Street Team provide.

We have clearly seen the enjoyment as well as emerging talent shine through at Revoe and beyond because of the inclusive and professional service which the Skool provides.

Many children, from a range of socio-economic backgrounds, perform to an extremely high standard, working alongside the talented instructors as well as the gifted students.

As Headteacher, I can not thank Skool of Street enough for embracing Revoe’s vision for our Performing Arts offer and enhancing our provision with their own values and vision statement.

To see doors open for children and young people who previously did not recognize their performance talent is inspiring – I recommend the Skool to you if you are interested in invigorating your children’s experiences and opportunities.

URPotential have worked with Skool of Street for several years. They are a charity offering diverse young people across the Fylde Coast the opportunity to engage in workshops and projects during school holidays.

The workshops take place in the Blackpool, Wyre and Fylde areas of Lancashire. They support young people who are being subjected to bullying, young people with specific needs and young people who would not be able to access mainstream dance classes that cost parents a lot of money. URPotential has referred young people to Skool of Street and these young people have grown in confidence, developed skills and made friends reducing social isolation for many young people.

I can’t praise this energetic, enthusiastic charity enough and will continue to work with them and refer young people."Linda Markey- URPotential have worked with Skool of Street for several years. “It has been a great to see the advance in quality and ambition of the work of Skool of Street and Wingz since we started working with them as part of our commitment to contemporary dance.  From workshops to curtain raisers to full scale, main stage performances, the young people they work with and the audiences they attract to the Grand Theatre have grown impressively.

Their professionalism and dedication makes working with them a pleasure.” Ruth Eastwood, Chief Executive, Blackpool Grand Theatre.

The benefits have been never ending. The effort, dedication, consistency, work ethic and passion every member preserves within the group is over whelming.

The youth of these groups have maintained a way to stay out of trouble or commonly get stigmatised by society who brandish kids of their ages as 'know it all youth's who need a good lesson' they support one another, they learn and grow from each other, take opportunites and have done amazing accolades within the workshops and performances.

He loves the atmosphere with all the students and is set on a career as a dancer/ choreographer. Skool of street has been so good for him as before now he had never done any drama sessions.

He is loving them and they give him so much confidence.

I have never known my child so enthusiastic.

I know it is somewhere safe, controlled and fun. His confidence and dance skills have excelled massively in a short space of time. thank you to everyone involved and keep up the wonderful work.

As the parent of a child with special needs,  I cannot praise skool of street highly enough. They demonstrate patience and understanding at all times and provide a great sense of community in a local setting. My son has gained masses of confidence and has discovered an ability to dance.

Everyone is so supportive of each other.

Every child is encouraged to grow, not only as a performer but also as a person.

Skool of Street has benefitted me greatly by providing a place where i have not only been given the support to build my confidence, but have also been inspired to develop and express myself in different ways.

The warmth, acceptance and kindness of the people we have met here is incredible. When you are in an environment where every individuals uniqueness is respected and you are encouraged to express yourself freely, you end up feeling very good about yourself.

You want to give back to the people around you and most important of all, it makes you leave feeling happy regardless of you're personal struggles.

Skool of Street is definitely a blessing to me and my boys.

Thank you so much to Sam and Aishley, who work with so much love and dedication. And Thank You for inspiring the kids.

Each child is supported and encouraged to be their own individual person.

We are taught to focus on what we are good at as well as wanting to improve. We never feel like we are not good enough because if we can't do something yet, there are so many others who will spend the time helping us to improve.

I feel like i can always rely on my friends to celebrate me for who i am and what i can do. I have never had that before.

The skills and confidence that both children have gained from dedicated tutors have been amazing. They have gone above and beyond just being fantastic teachers, they truly care about every single member that attends.

Classes have really built up my confidence and motivation over the years and has given me the courage to perform.

Skool of Street has also helped me in my weight loss journey by keeping me active, fit and happy.

What I like about Skool of Street is spending time with kids from different lives to me. Some people have been doing this for a long time and they are really good and make me want to get better. Then there is other kids like me, who are new and just learning.

The kids who are good always cheer for us and help us so we improve and i like it that they care about us.

I have always been a bit different growing up so I'm used to feeling a bit outcast. Coming here as a teenager has just made me wish i found it as a child.

Its like a family, they don't treat me different they just treat me like me.

I am thankful to find somewhere that my kids relate. Classical dance training and Drama training has never interested them as they feel they don't conform.

This establishment allows them to explore who they are creatively. I also have a new found understanding of Hip Hop culture as well as my children.

What they learn here goes far beyond dance and arts skills. They learn the importance of a community.
